Definition: Team: verb, “come together to achieve a common goal”
In Team Building Basics, we come together to support the creation of life skills that are beneficial for both you and your dog. Using patterns of movement that create predictability, we and our dogs learn how each other’s behavior affects our responses to it. This is called conversational learning. Within the structure of a pattern, we can both “ask” questions and gain answers. Do our dogs feel safe, are they engaged, do they understand the lesson? Patterns are how we ask, and how they answer. And it is how they ask, and how we answer.
In this 6 week class, we will develop conversational behaviors like sit, down, attention to guardian, and self regulation behaviors like leave it, drop it, recall, settle and stay.
In creating a pattern of behavior, you and your dog learn that there is a predictable outcome and that is empowering for both of you. An empowered team is confident in life skill development and sure of the expectations of the other.
