No Description resized to 300 pixels wideKaren Glasser is 1983 graduate of the Medical Institute of Minnesota.  She has been working at Lake Mills Veterinary clinic since December 2001 as a Certified Veterinary Technician.  She also works part-time at Prospect Elementary School where she helps 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders with reading.

One of the most exciting things for Karen is seeing how veterinary medicine has changed since she joined the field.  She is pleased to see so many great procedures available for pets today.

She shares her home with her husband, 3 dogs, 8 cats, 1 rabbit, 10 African Clawed frogs and an aquarium full of fish!

Sheila Mathwig has lived in the Lake Mills area her entire life.  In fact, she lives on and helps with the family dairy farm that was established in 1956.  After graduating from MATC in Madison and becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician in 1990, she worked in production medicine for 2 years.  She is happy to have worked for Lake Mills Veterinary Clinic since 1991.

"A good day would be playing fetch with my crazy cat Stanley.  It's also wonderful to pack a lunch and go bass fishing on a lazy Sunday afternoon.  Spending time with family and friends is also very important to me."

"I look forward to meeting you and working with your animal friends."

Vicki Weiner, Office Manager

My childhood dream was to become a Veterinarian, but life had a different plan. So when I was offered a Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist job in 1992, I eagerly accepted and never looked back.

While I love assisting, somehow I gravitate more toward the customer service side. In 1996 I was offered a Hospital Manager position, which has turned out to be the best career choice I have made thus far. As a manager I get to be involved in all areas of the clinic. And there is never a dull moment to my day!

When we moved from Illinois to Wisconsin in 2004, I became the Hospital Coordinator for The Animal Health Clinic in Cambridge. When that clinic closed its doors, the door at the Lake Mills Veterinary Clinic opened for me.

I am very excited about building long-term relationships with the wonderful pets and their awesome owners here at the Lake Mills Veterinary Clinic.

Mittsy Voiles, Veterinary assistant and behavioral specialist

Mittsy has offered dog training classes at the clinic since 2007, and was hired as a Veterinary Assistant and behavioral specialist in 2008.

She is passionate about shelter medicine, having worked in animal shelters since 1998, including as Animal Care Manager at Elmbrook Humane Society in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

As founder and director of Good dog!, Queensland, Australia, 2003-2007, Mittsy developed and taught classes for puppies and adult dogs, focused on understanding behavior, preventing problems such as aggression and fearfulness, and providing proper care for the lifetime of the dog.

Her specialty is canine behavior, but her training has been across many species, including cats, ferrets, chinchillas, and zoo residents including bats, parrots, wombats, chimpanzees, baboons and dingoes.

Outside work, you can find her at one of Jefferson County’s amazing parks with her 7-year-old Australian kelpie mix, Bindi, and her 4-year-old rat terrier, Diesel.

Claire Scholten, Receptionist

I enjoy this role because it gives me a lot of people and pet interaction. I work here at the clinic as well as on my family's 60-cow Jersey Dairy farm.

Many people ask why I am not currently enrolled in college, and the answer to that question is I am simply happier here. Here, I get the chance to learn something new every day. No two clients, patients or situations are the same. Every day I am disovering new ways to challenge myself, whether by answering three phone lines at once or helping a new dog owner get more acquainted with their responsibilities as a parent, I am constantly thriving on each new experience.

Right now I keep busy between the cats, dogs and cows. When I am not in work clothes, you'll usually find me in professional attire promoting Jefferson County as your 2010 Fairest of the Fair.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Have an awesome day!
